Salon Etiquette

At Shwe Tan we like to ensure that every client has the best opportunity to have a highly professional service in a friendly and courteous atmosphere. To achieve this we would ask all our clientele to keep in mind the following etiquette dtips.

Cancellations and Missed Appointments

We understand that there are always occasions when life gets hectic and plans have to change. However, we are a busy salon and it is unfair on both our staff and other clients when a client cancels last minute or misses their appointment. We therefore have the below policies in place. Please note, that if you cancel or miss an appointment with less than 48 hours' notice, we have the right to request payment in full for your appointment and we will politely request your next appointment to be paid for in advance in full at the time of booking.

Treatments

Deposits for Treatments

Deposits can be made over the phone at the time of booking, or in person at the salon.

If you Cancel your appointment with more than 48 hours’ notice, deposits are refunded in full.

Any exceptions to the above are at the manager's discretion, and an email should be sent to info@shwetan.co.uk and marked for the attention of the Manager.

New Clients

For all new client bookings, a £5 deposit is required.

Mondays-Saturdays

For bookings of 1 hour or more, a minimum £10 deposit is required.

Sundays

For bookings 30 minutes or more, a minimum £5 deposit is required

For bookings of 1 hour or more, a minimum £10 deposit is required

Sun Beds

Missed Appointments

Sun Bed Courses: If you miss your sun bed course appointment, your Sun Angel session / tanning course minutes will automatically be deducted from your account.

Pay as you go sun bed clients: During busy times, you may be asked to pay in advance in full for your sun bed if you do not have a sun bed course. If you miss an appointment, you may be charged in full for your appointment.

Cancellation of Sun Bed Appointments: We require a minimum of 2 hours’ notice for cancellations of sun be appointments, otherwise you may be charged in full for your appointment.

Online Bookings

You can cancel or change your booking online in My Booking History up to 24 hours in advance of your visit. If you fail to adhere to our 24-hour online booking cancellation policy, we have the right to charge you the balance of your booking amount left to pay in the salon by way of your online payment method.

Lateness

Please arrive early for your sun bed or beauty treatment. Turning up late will shorten your treatment or sun bed time if you have booked in advance. We ask new clients for Sun beds and Treatments to arrive 5 minutes early to fill out your consultation card.

Please bear in mind that if you are late, your treatment / sun bed will end on time so the next client isn’t delayed.

Sun Bed Courses

We do not permit any of our sun bed courses to be shared between clients.

Beauty Clients under 16

We request that clients under 16 are accompanied by an adult, and Parents / Guardians sign their consultation forms.

Beauty Clients under 18

We do not perform Intimate Waxing Treatments on any clients under the age of 18. Please bring ID to your first treatment.

Under 18's on sun beds

Shwe Tan encourages responsible tanning. Sun beds are for over 18's only.

If you are lucky enough to look under 25, ID will be required on your first visit.

There are no exceptions to this rule, so please come prepared otherwise unfortunately we will have to turn you away.

We only accept the following forms of ID at Shwe Tan:

Provisional Driving Licence / Driving Licence
Passport

Gelish Nails

Our Staff are trained in Gelish Nails. We do not under any circumstance remove or work on Acrylic Nails at our Salon as we do not have the products and tools to carry this out.

We recommend you that you return to the salon where you had the acrylics applied then book with us for Gels at least one day after as removal of Acrylic, as this dries out the nail.

Patch Tests

Patch Tests are required 48 hours prior to any Tinting or Eyelash Treatment.

Under no circumstance will a client be allowed to have a Tint or Lash extensions carried out without having a patch test. From time to time ingredients may change in the products which we use, and we may request clients to have another patch test.

Female Clients - Spray Tanning

We provide paper knickers for our female clients. We politely request that these or your own underwear are worn as an absolute minimum during your Spray Tan.

Male Clients – Spray Tanning

We politely request that you wear pants or shorts as an absolute minimum during your Spray Tan.

Male Clients – Waxing

We are proud to provide male waxing treatments of the highest standards. In order for us to do this we kindly ask that you read and adhere to the following rules of etiquette during your treatment:

Please assist your therapist by following her instructions and aiding her as directed.

Please be mindful of the questions you ask and conversations you engage in.

Please do not touch the therapist in anyway during your treatment. We aim to make your treatment as painless as possible but also understand that waxing can cause discomfort. We ask that you refrain from reaching out to your therapists at these times.

We appreciate your co-operation and look forward to providing you with a professional and high standard wax!

Mobile Phones

Please make certain to have your mobile turned to vibrate at all times when in the salon and on silent in the treatment room. We want you to relax when having your treatment carried out, and if you are using your mobile phone this may result in making your Therapist run late and your full treatment not being carried out.

Children

For the health and safety of all and the goal ambiance of the salon we regret to inform you that children cannot be left to sit in reception on their own whilst clients have a sun bed or treatment.

Please do not ask staff to keep an eye on your children as we will have to politely decline. Our staff cannot be responsible for your children whilst working in a busy salon.

Parking

We have spaces located behind our salon for client use after 6pm Monday – Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. We have one parking space in front of our salon which can be used at any time.

There are two local car parks in Old Harlow with 1 hour’s free parking which are both less than a 2 minute walk to our salon. We do advise clients to use these car parks during the day time. Please click the below link for further details:

Clients are advised against parking on the main road outside the salon at any time. This is a clearway and traffic wardens frequently operate in the area.

Gift Vouchers

Gift Vouchers are available for all sun beds, treatments and products with the exception of our Cosmetic Clinic

Booking fees

Occasionally at we may ask for a deposit on any of our services. For example for new clients, at peak times or for popular promotions.

We reserve the right to change policies whenever required.
