Part-Time Receptionist

Job description

Do you excel at making people feel welcomed and special?

Are you enthusiastic about the world of beauty and tanning?

We're hiring a part-time Receptionist to join our friendly team in Old Harlow, working evenings and weekends.

We have an established reception team, and some of our evening and weekend hours have been covered by junior members of our beauty team. Now that they're busy with more beauty treatments, we're looking for someone to take on those evening and weekend shifts on reception.

This is around 17 hours a week on average, and we'll give you your rota six weeks in advance so you can plan your life around it.

This role is right for you if you:

- Use your initiative and enjoy spotting what needs doing
- Pick things up quickly
- Genuinely care about making everyone around you feel happy and looked after
- Have a real interest in the beauty and tanning industry
- Are confident on a busy desk, on the phone and on a computer
- Are happy to clean, and clean thoroughly
- Full training will be given, but after that we need someone who is proactive and can run the desk confidently on their own.

Who are we and what do we do?

We opened our salon in Old Harlow, Essex, in 2010, and we've built a genuinely loyal client base over the years.

Our absolute passion is making sure every client feels special and receives an outstanding service every time they visit. It needs to be your passion too.

Over 1,146 five star Google reviews

We're incredibly proud of our Google reviews. Clients regularly mention how welcoming our team is, our friendly atmosphere and our commitment to cleanliness.

Our salon includes:

- Three Ergoline sun beds
- Three private treatment rooms
- Two pedicure areas
- A dedicated spray tan room
- Three nail bars

Treatments we offer:

- Waxing
- Dermalogica skin treatments
- Massage
- Spray tanning
- Gel nails, manicures and pedicures
- Tinting and threading
- LVL lashes, Korean Lash Lifts and lash extensions
- Cryotherapy

Award-winning excellence
We're proud of what we've built here, with over 1,146 five star Google reviews and a loyal client base. We've won multiple client experience awards, been finalists for Best Customer Service at the National Entrepreneur Awards, and were named Best Business in Harlow in 2022.

We're proud of our upbeat, friendly working environment.
Our team look after each other and work closely together. Standards are high, and we take the same care with our team as we do with our clients.

What will you be doing?

During your first month you'll be trained by other members of the team. You'll need to take plenty of notes, so that you can work confidently on your own afterwards.

You'll learn about all the treatments we offer, so you can give clients the information they need when they book. You'll also be trained on how to advise clients on tanning safely, and on the tanning lotions we retail so you can help clients choose the right one.

On reception

- Learning and using our salon system, Phorest
- Welcoming clients and showing new clients around the salon
- Checking client cards have been completed
- Checking clients in for their appointments
- Answering the telephone
- Taking payments and cashing up at the end of the day
- Confidently advising clients on how to use the sun beds safely
- Recommending the right lotion for each client's skin type
- Letting clients know they can save money with a sun bed course
- Administration tasks
- Taking photos and videos for Facebook and Instagram
- Stock checks
- Working towards team goals and targets

Around the salon

Cleaning is a big part of this role, and it matters to us. Please only apply if you're genuinely happy with this.

- Cleaning the sun beds after every client and preparing the room for the next one
- Helping the therapists clean and prepare treatment areas between clients
- Washing, drying and folding towels
- Maintaining an exceptional standard of cleanliness at all times
- Hoovering, mopping and cleaning down at the end of each shift

What we need from you

If you can answer yes to these, we'd love to meet you:

- Are you warm, friendly and confident with people?
- Do you genuinely care about making everyone around you feel special?
- Do you look for what needs doing and enjoy getting on with it?
- Are you reliable, with an excellent attendance record?

We're looking for:

- Excellent communication skills and a real commitment to customer service

- A supportive team player
- A proactive work ethic and the confidence to use your initiative
- Practical problem solving and common sense
- Strong attention to detail
- Good organisation, and the ability to juggle several things at once
- A willingness to keep learning about our treatments, products and prices
